53 (who?)
Sheik and Zelda by crimsontriforce Sheik and Zelda by crimsontriforce
First submission!

This is an old one, but I still like it. It's the first of an awfully long series of Sheik, Sheik-thinking-about-Zelda, Zelda-thinking-about-Sheik, and one-sided Sheik/Zelda (sort of). Obsessed? Me? not a chance.

And, yes, I have played the game thrice and, yes, the manga says Sheik's male and with a different personality from Zelda's. Long live OoT's manga.

I really think sheik is male. I mean sheik has broader shoulders, thicker arms and legs, narrower hips, and pecs. The triforce of wisdom super amplifies zeldas magic, so if she has the power to make her arms, legs, and shoulders bigger, why not go all out? I mean I wouldn't want to turn into a guy, but then again I'm not trying to hide from the "King of Evil". But male or female it really just comes down to Sheik being whatever the hell you want him/her to be.

Well, yes, in the manga Sheik was male, but only in mind (remember Dilandau from Escaflowne?). But in the game, Sheik is still Zelda, so Girl Power for Zelda (unless she really got a sex change >_<;)!

What does the game say to negate the manga's theory? It's perfectly acceptable even in-game!

Actually, in the manga, it's Impa that changes her, from what I've understood from those panels at least. What she certainly does is undoing it herself, which could have very well happened in-game since the Triforce pieces were, uh, resonating or something (both Link's and Zelda's only appeared at that moment) and Sheik's disguise wasn't needed anymore... I can't see the game contradicting the Sheik-as-his-own-personality theory, really. I wrote a short piece that explains my views on the matter, I'd just link it to you so you could see my points more clearly, too bad it's in Italian >_<

Signature love, btw  Partners in Time is such a brilliant game^^

Sorry, if it too long to find this post. I did not know you posted an answer until now (how slow I am).

Just to tell you that the Zelda series mainly focuses in the games. Secondary media like TV or comic (manga in this case) do not count as official canon, unless stated otherwise. The game doesn't say anything about Sheik being his own personality, neither does the manga say whether the change involved changing her body to male (Impa is only a warrior, not some kind of sorcerer). I don't mean that the game and manga plots contradict each other, just that they're told in different ways (just like the Pokémon anime from the games). I don't know, but don't you wish Nintendo made a DX version that would be more specific on the matter ending this debate once and for all?

Oh, yeah, as you can see, I made another M&L RPG 2 signature. This one is more memorable than the N00b Br0z quote. ;p I love that game.
